Activities at Portmeirion

Swimming
The swimming pool on the lawn below the Hotel is heated from mid May to mid September. There are changing rooms under Anchor cottage with showers and towels. The swimming pool is not available after dark. The currents in the estuary are quite tricky, so swimming in it is not recommended.

Tennis
The tennis court is available close to the Castle on the driveway into Portmeirion. Court booking can be made at Reception, where rackets and balls are available.

Walking
To the west of Portmeirion village is a 70 acre sub-tropical woodland crisscrossed with many paths. Rhododendrons, Azaleas and Camellias grow here. A map of the woodlands is available at several shops in the village.

Golf
Portmeirion has an arrangement with Porthmadog Golf Club at Morfa Bychan, whereby guests may play free of green fees at the club.

Picnicking
Guests can order a picnic lunch packed up for them by the Hotel restaurant staff. It is best to order it the night before and specify the time you will be picking it up from the hotel. Typical lunches include bottled water, sandwiches, fruit, bara brith, and cheese. There are lots of places around the village and in the woods to have a picnic. But please be considerate of others and clean up afterwards.
