Trompe L'oeil Continued

This is an amazing trompe l'oeil painting of a person in a window. It is located on the front of the Toilet near the entrance.

Portmeirion trompe l'oeil

Portmeirion trompe l'oeil Cliff House 1

Above: Of particular note are the trompe l'oeil windows painted on the front and side of Cliff House. Artist Nigel Simmons did such a wonderful job that it is difficult to tell which are real and which are not. He even included the reflection of the Annexe in the side "windows" of Cliff House, and replicated the lace curtains seen in the real front windows.

The top windows on the front of the Arches are painted fake ones.

Portmeirion trompe l'oeil Gothic Pavilion

The two flower vases on the Gothic Pavilion are two dimensional cut-outs rather than full sculptures.

This is the ultimate three dimensional trompe l'oeil. Although this looks like a real boat moored on the quay, it is actually a concrete construction built in 1930 and modelled on Sir Clough's own ketch, the 'Amis Reunis'. It is built into the quayside and marks the spot where the original ketch boat used to be moored.
