Chantry (Y Siantri)

Portmeirion Chantry 1

Chantry was originally constructed as an art studio for the Welsh painter, Augustus John, but he never took up residency here. Its tower has a painted clockface, which marks the highest point in the village. This picture is from the Village center side.

This picture shows the back of Chantry from the car park side. Chantry was built in 1933-34, renovated in 1985, and is the second largest self-catering cottage in Portmeirion.
