Hercules Statue

Hercules is a bronze statue, created by sculptor William Brodie in 1850. Hercules stands in for Atlas supporting the world in this rendition. Sir Clough saw a picture of the statue in Country Life magazine and decided to buy it for Portmeirion. There are several plaques attached to the statue's pedestal, including "To the Summer of 1959, in honour of its splendour", and "Nonesuch 1976".
