Hercules Hall (Neuadd Ercwlff)

Portmeirion Hercules Hall

Sir Clough called Hercules Hall 'the Town Hall without a town.' The view here is of the Hercules Hall taken from Trinity Yard. The ground floor entrance leads to toilets.

Portmeirion Hercules Hall

Portmeirion Hercules Hall cupola

The Hercules Hall tower is topped with a cupola fashioned from farm oddments, including an old pigswill boiler.

On May 21st, 1998, a new annexe called the Tudor Room was opened. It is a grand replacement for an ugly metal hut which stood in the same place. The Tudor Room from the side. You can see the original Hall to the right in this photo. There is a small porch in front of the new building, and several pathways lead into the grounds near it.

The Tudor Room has a small connecting walkway between itself and the Hall. The exterior has many small touches of features found elsewhere within Portmeirion, so it blends amicably with its surroundings. This photo was taken while standing in front of the Hall, looking up at the elevation.
