Lady's Lodge (Lletyr Iarlles)

Portmeirion Lady's Lodge

Lady's Lodge was built in 1936 as a garage. It was also known as "The Peacock Shop" for many years, and antiques were sold in it. This building has had a number of names over the years, including "Lady's Lodge", Battery Stores, and "The Queen's Lodge". The latter name was because it had a mural of Queen Elizabeth II painted by Sir Clough's daughter, Susan Williams-Ellis, on it. The mural was painted on the side towards the piazza, but has long since been replaced with a balcony door. Lady's Lodge now has the shop Siop Bach in it. A hair salon is located in the top floor and accessed by the stairs seen in the photo on the left.
