Portmeirion is the backdrop to Cold Feet's final episode (Sunday 16 March 2003) in which Rachel's ashes are scattered into the Dwyryd Estuary. The last episode of the fifth and final series of Cold Feet features Portmeirion as the venue for a reunion of the cast members following the funeral of Rachel, one of the lead characters. Cold Feet is a comedy drama about three couples: Adam Williams (James Nesbitt) who is married to Rachel Bradley (Helen Baxendale); Pete Gifford (John Thomson) and his ex-wife Jenny (Fay Ripley); David Marsden (Robert Bathurst) and his wife Karen (Hermione Norris). In the previous episode watched by 10.4m viewers, Rachel died in intensive care following a car crash. In the final episode (Sunday 16 March 2003), following Rachel's funeral, a reunion of the cast members is held at Portmeirion where her husband Adam scatters her ashes into the Dwyryd estuary. Portmeirion was chosen because Rachel and Adam had enjoyed many happy times here in the past. It was also the place where they conceived baby Mathew and was where Adam wanted to lay his wife to rest. |
