Mermaid (Mor-Forwyn)

Portmeirion Mermaid

Mermaid dates back from the 1850's and was originally the gardener's bothy. Only Mermaid and Salutation Restaurant existed when Sir Clough started building up his village, although he did give Mermaid its imposing metal canopy. For many years it was used for staff accommodation, later converted in the 1970s into a self-catering cottage, and was renovated in 1984.
