In the carriages

The wait until it appeared in the carriages seemed endless but of course the four-color art work had to be prepared by others, the print run had to be made and the coaches had to be fitted with the new sized panels - with the map appearing in the center panel of three, as in the photo below. It was an exciting day for me when I first saw the map fitted on a Richmond to Waterloo service and I subsequently took my parents on a 'map siting trip'. Two or three years later when I became a Maintenance Supervisor with 25 Lyons Teashops to keep running, spread all over SW London, I got some real value out of the new map and I hope other rail travelers did as well.
