Quick Tour of Portmeirion

The Pantheon overlooking the village green was built because Sir Clough was conscious of a "severe dome-deficiency" in the Portmeirion ensemble and felt resolved to remedy it. The green painted wooden dome was replaced in the early nineties by a new copper dome which will eventually turn verdigris green again.

The Round House contains The Prisoner Shop and Portmeirion Information Centre. "The Prisoner" was a television show from the 1960s starring Patrick McGoohan that was mostly filmed here. Through this show, Portmeirion became the mysterious "Village" where ex-spies are detained by unknown captors. Many "Prisoner" fans visit Portmeirion each year to see the still existing "set" where their favorite show was filmed.
