'There is no one
writing more truthfully of low London life than Mr.
Halifax'.-- Manchester Guardian,
This website has
been produced by his two grandsons - John Young and
David
Lawrence and
their respective families.
One detail eludes
our understanding. Robert Halifax's last book was
'The Right to Love' published in 1916. He was then
46 years of age. He died in 1943 aged 73. So for
the last 27 years of his life he does not appear to
have written anything that was published. He
appears to have simply stopped writing since the
family is not aware of any unpublished manuscripts.
We are also not aware of what other interests he
took up when he stopped writing. Any information
would be welcome.
