How to visualize a 'Magic Roundabout'

Stage 1

Imagine a 'T' junction with a regular mini-roundabout with its painted white circle..

Stage 2

Imagine four 'T' junctions with mini-roundabouts (or 5, or 6) 20 yards apart on the same stretch of straight road.
There would be no problem would there?

Stage 3

Now bend the four (or 5, or 6) 'T' junctions into a loop so they connect-up as shown in the diagram. Also pile up the ground in the central island to obcure the view of the other side - like horse-blinkers. Is it becoming clearer now?
